Hawkes Concert, ca. 1895
Fully carved 7/8 size bass, made ca. 1895 by Hawkes & Son. Fine, staight grain spruce top with maple roundback, ribs, and neck/scroll. Includes ebony fittings, maple bridge, and original brass tuning machines/plates. Scroll graft was completed by Boston luthier Jed Kreigel. In excellent condition with a big, clear, and even sound. An excellent, lifelong orchestral companion!
