Kay Orchestra Model, 1937
A laminate 3/4 size double bass made in 1937 by the Kay Company. This Orchestra model is a rare first-year example, that retains its original finish, original three-piece neck, original fingerboard, and original Czech hatpeg tuning machines. During the first year or two of production, Kay was experimenting with construction materials, components, design details, branding... pretty much everything until they hit their stride with the bass models we know today! These early models are rare and quite sought after by collectors. This exmaple is in fair condition, with some finish flaking and a repaired pegbox that appears very solid.
If you're looking for a bass with 1930s mojo, then come give this one a thump!
