Matteo Goffriller, ca. 1730

A stunning Italian instrument attributed to Matteo Goffriller, Venice ca. 1730. A two-piece spruce top, paired with willow or walnut roundback and ribs. Scroll is very old, but likely not original, with modern neck graft and later brass tuning machines.

This bass was played in the Boston Symphony Orchestra for over 30 years and is in an excellent state of preservation.
