Paul Claudot, ca. 1860
-- SOLD! --
A fine bass by Paul Claudot, Mirecourt France, ca. 1860. Claudot's Grand Violin Modéle, which features a medium to wide grain pine top, tightly flamed maple flatback and ribs, with unfigured maple scroll.
This bass bears an 1879 William Tarr repair label, in addition to Tarr tuning machines and plates. Bass retains original Paul Claudot stamp at button and stamp from removed bass bar. Recent top-off restoration and scroll graft, in excellent structural condition. In our opinion, this is one of the most resonant and responsive French instruments that we've played. Consignment.
