Seth Kimmel, 2016
-- SOLD! --
A stunning fully carved 7/8 busetto, made in 2016 by Seth Kimmel, Eugene, OR. Based on the classic Prescott design, Seth added violin corners and used redwood top, flamed quarter-sawn walnut back/ribs, and neck/scroll with individual Sloane 'Venitian' tuning machines and a low B-extension.
Seth is not only a good human, but he's super creative and innovative. This bass is jam packed with tasty little design elements and is beautifully crafted down to the last detail. As he does with many of his basses, this particular instrument uses salvaged woods local to his shop. The redwood top is left over from concrete forms used to build the Bonneville Dam on the Columbia River in the 1940's and the flamed walnut was from a fallen tree near Seth's shop in Eugene, OR.
