Joseph Alfred Lamy, c.1900
Joseph Alfred Lamy (Lamy père) was born in Mirecourt in 1850 and began his apprenticeship with Claude Husson in 1862. In 1868 he began working for Gautrot, a brass manufacturing company, until 1876 when he moved to Paris to become an assistant to François-Nicolas Voirin. Following the death of Voirin in 1885, Lamy opened his own atelier where he worked until his death in 1919.
This particular example is branded A.LAMY A PARIS and features a round stick of fine pernambuco, carrying an ivory tip plate, silver tinsel winding, and a black leather grip. The frog is ebony fully mounted in silver, with pearl eyes, pearl slide, and octagonal silver/ebony button.
