Arnold Schnitzer #64, 2026
A brand-new build just arrived from award-winning maker, Arnold Schnitzer, and we're blown away!
This comfortable 7/8 size Milanese model features a European spruce top paired with a lovely Carpathian poplar round back, Bosnian maple ribs, and a Bosnian maple neck/scroll. Other notable features include a carbon fiber reinforced removable neck for modern travel requirements, a chromatic C-extension, the highest quality Rubner tuning machines, a handmade rosewood tailpiece, and an innovative adjustable saddle. Tastefully antiqued oil varnish mirrors the appearance of 18th-century Italian masterpieces while allowing the instrument to breathe freely and age naturally.
In typical Schnitzer fashion, this build clearly articulates his attention to detail and his approach to geometry as a player himself, and we think the poplar-maple combination offers the perfect blend of warmth and clarity, with a nicely cushioned response. This is a world-class bass that delivers the color and depth of an antique, centuries-old Italian instrument straight out of the workshop -- but don't take our word for it... come try it for yourself!
