  • A 3/4 size French instrument ca. 1885, labeled Medailles d'or et d'argent C. Jacquot Luthier 19 rue GAMBETTA 19, NANCY. This beautiful example features a fine grain spruce top paired with a flamed maple round back, matching ribs, and tightly flamed maple scroll. It carries ebony fittings, a maple adjustable bridge, the original Mirecourt tuning machines, and a Robertson's C-extension. This bass is in very good condition and has a punchy, even tone for a smaller instrument!

     

    Pierre-Charles Jacquot (1828-1900), son of Charles Jacquot, was born in Nancy, France and after graduating from the Lycée of Nancy, Pierre Charles began his apprenticeship under his father's direction. In 1854, he took over his father's business in Nancy, where Pierre Charles worked for the remainder of his career. He was the recipient of medals at Merz, London, Lyons, Paris, Algiers, Moscow, Vienna, and Chicago.
