For Hart & Son, c.1860
-- SOLD! --
A beautiful old bass crafted ca.1860 for the English market and likely sold through Hart & Son in London. This beauty features a spruce top paired with a beautifully figured maple flatback, matching ribs, and a maple neck/scroll. We recently completed an overhaul which included top repairs, edge doubling, new bass bar, new back bracing, and a complete set-up. This instrument was brought to the US in the 1970s by Tom Martin and spent several decades in the Atlanta Opera. It is very easy to play and offers an open, warm sound!
