German, c.1900
A 3/4 size double bass made in Germany c.1900 that features a spruce top paired with a maple round back, maple ribs, and a maple neck/scroll. It carries ebony fittings, a maple adjustable bridge, and the original tuning machines. Fresh set-up and repair work at BVS include a fingerboard dressing, a new adjustable bridge, and miscellaneous crack and seam gluing. This one has been a workhorse instrument for the same jazz musician since the 1970s. It has a very old neck repair which has been solid for nearly 50 years!
