A gorgeous old German double bass bow from the legendary HR Pfretzschner shop in Markneukirchen, Germany c.1920. It features an octagonal stick of gorgeous old Pernambuco, paired with a bone tip plate, and black leather grip. The frog is ebony mounted in nickel, with abalone slide and ebony button. This bow is in very good condition and would make a spectacular bow for the player looking for a stable, light stick! 117g.

 

A family business spanning several generations, the Pfretzschners were some of the most influential bow makers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They brought to Germany the French tradition of bow making, which can be seen and felt in their bows. For double bassists, HR Pfretzschner is seen by many as the pinnacle of craftsmanship and playability. 

 

Bows of this age and this quality don't arrive on the market very often, and this one won't last long... if you're searching for a fine old Pfretzschner in very good condition, then don't sleep on this one!
