HR Pfretzschner, ca. 1930s
-- SOLD! --
A fabulous German bow made in Markneukirchen ca. 1930s by the HR Pfretzschner firm. A family business spanning several generations, the Pfretzschners were some of the most influential bow makers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They brought to Germany the French tradition of bow making, which can be seen and felt in their bows. For double bassists, HR Pfretzschner is seen by many as the pinnacle of craftsmanship and playability.
Octagonal pernambuco stick, with ivory tip. The frog is ebony mounted in nickel silver, with the Saxon Coat of Arms stamp on the player's side, and synthetic button. This is the lighter model, coming in at 127g, which makes for an agile, articulate, and elegant playing bow.
Bows of this age and this quality don't arrive on the market very often, and this one won't last long... if you're searching for a fine old Pfretzschner in very good condition, then don't sleep on this one!
