HR Pfretzschner, ca. 1930s
A terrific pre-war bow from the H.R. Pfretzschner firm, crafted in Markneukirchen, Germany ca. 1930s. This rare model features a slightly larger and taller head than is typically seen in on a standard Pfretzschner model, which can offer more suspension and power from the stick, making this bow an excellent orchestral bow! It features an octagonal pernambuco stick, with ivory tip plate, silver winding, and black leather grip. The frog is ebony mounted in nickel, with an abalone slide and an ebony button. It is stamped H.R. PFRETZSCHNER above the frog and also carries the traditional Saxon Coat of Arms brand on the side of the frog. A gorgeous old bow that plays as nicely as it looks!
