A Kay S-8 made in 1952 that features laminate construction with spruce top veneer, flamed maple back/side veneer, and a maple neck/scroll. It carries ebony fittings, a maple adjustable bridge, and the original Kluson tuning machines. A total set-up was completed at the Bass Violin Shop and this beauty is ready to gig tonight!
The Kay S-8 model was near the top of Kay's lineup and was the non-blonde sibling to the S-9. It was only produced between 1939-1954, and as a result, these are relatively rare models. It is estimated that only around 200 units were produced.
