A Kay S-8 model made in 1954 that featured laminate construction, with spruce top veneer, quilted maple back/side veneer, a maple neck with carved scroll volutes, inlaid purfling around the top/back and around the f-holes. Varnish was a tobacco brown color and it carried ebony fittings with nickel plated Kluson tuning machines. This rare model was made between 1939-1954, making this the last year for the S-8. Bass Violin Shop completed a set-up on this bass, including a fingerboard dressing and an adjustable bridge. A killer sounding and looking Kay!
