Marino Tarantino, 1978

$49,500.00Price
  • Marino Tarantino (1914-1989) was born in Naples, Italy and learned the instrument trade from his father, Giuseppe. Marino joined him in business, presumably working together together until his father's death in 1962. Later in his life, Marino also trained his son Mario in the trade. Both Giuseppe and Marino are best known for their double basses.

This particular instrument features a slab cut spruce top paired with a figured maple round back, matching ribs, and maple neck/scroll. It carries ebony fittings, a maple adjustable bridge, and individual brass tuning machines. This bass has a BIG, sonorous sound that is open and easy in all registers. If you want to drive the bass section, then come check this one out!
