Reid Hudson, c.1990s

$7,000.00Price

Reid Hudson (1952-2026) was born in Toronto, and after studying the double bass with Tom Monahan of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, he began an apprenticeship with Joseph Kun in Ottawa. In 1980, Reid relocated to Vancouver Island, where he established his own shop and continued to craft bows for the remainder of his career. His bows are renowned by professional players around the world, especially his double bass bows. Sadly, Reid passed in September of 2026 after a debilitating fight with Parkinsons Disease.

This particular double bass bow is branded REID HUDSON and features a round pernambuco stick paired with a bone tip plate, silver winding, and black leather grip. The frog is ebony fully mounted in silver, with pearl slide, Parisian eyes, and a silver button. A beautifully made bow, in excellent condition, that plays exactly as we expect Reid's finest bows to play! These nice older bows are becoming more difficult to find, so if you've been in the market for a Reid Hudson, don't let this one slip by you! 148g.
