Siegfried Finkel, c.1950s
Siegfried Finkel (1927-2010) trained as a bow maker under Paul Weidhaas in Markneukirchen, Germany and eventually married Paul's daughter, Hanna. In 1952, amidst political unrest, Siegfried and Hanna made the decision to relocate to Brienz, Switzerland, where they established a legendary bow making shop and Swiss tradition.
This particular double bass bow is branded SIEGFRIED FINKEL and SWISS MADE. It features a round pernambuco stick paired with a bone tip plate, silver winding, and black leather grip. The frog is ebony fully mounted in silver, with a pearl slide and silver/ebony button. A supple and forgiving bow that shows Finkel's ability to meld the German and French traditions! 132g.
