Louis Morizot, c.1935
Louis Joseph Morizot (Louis Bazin, 1881-1953) begain his apprenticeship with his father (Charles Nicholas Bazin) at the age of 12 and took over the family Mirecourt workshop in 1907. Here he worked until retirement in 1952, when his son, Charles Alfred Bazin took over the family workshop. Louis Bazin bows have a reputation for being precisely made and for having excellent playing characteristics.
This particular example is faintly stamped, and features a round stick of bois d'abielle (commonly referred to as bulletwood, massaranduba, or its literal translation of 'bee wood'). The frog is ebony fully mounted in nickel silver, with pearl eyes, pearl slide, and butterfly adjuster. A clean example of Mirecourt work by a French master, accompanied by a Raffin certificate. 140g
